CICD is proud to present renowned vocal artist Rajesh Kelkar from India.

Wonderful opportunity for Music lovers to learn vocal singing with a Maestro.

Master classes in vocal singing will be conducted in the evenings for seven weeks starting from 9th June 2008 at various venues in Leicester.

Urjah Friday 5th October 2007: 8:00pm
Phoenix Theatre, Leicester
Urjah is a new dance piece premiering in the East Midlands, at the phoenix theatre in Leicester Autumn 2007. Four dancers combine contemporary style with a rich fusion of classical Kathak and Bharatanatyam dance against an atmospheric filmic backdrop. Urjah is performed to a specially commissioned music from Praveen Rao, acclaimed from his modern interpretation of the classical music of North India, choreographed by Nilima Devi.

Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre Leicester
An evening of North Indian music and dance performed by Roopa Panesar on sitar and Tofail Ahmed on Vocal. Both artists are teaching music at the CICD and are professional performers. The evening begins with a platform performance by students of Indian dance and music training at Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre on a weekly basis.

An annual showcase displaying talents of young people training in Indian dance and music in Leicester and Leicestershire schools and communities taught by professional dance teachers of CICD.

Emerging Sparks performance 30th March 2007: 7.30pm
The Peepul Centre, Leicester.
A platform for young talents and young professionals training in Indian Classical dance styles (Kathak and Bharatnatyam), in the East Midlands and the United Kingdom, training with professional experienced classical dance style exponents.


Urjah performance
A Nilma Devi Dance company will be touring Urjah and Nritta – Nrittya (Dance Double Bill) in Autumn 2007 and Spring 2008.
