The Nartan Festival aimed to bring together dance practitioners and choreographers, dance academics and researchers, organisations, funders, arts managers and individuals interested in South Asian dance in the UK to network, debate, discuss and experience some unique South Asian dance performances which was mainly promoted by the Centre for Indian Classical Dance (CICD) in Leicester, one of the leading South Asian dance organisations and agencies in the UK.
The Festival took place throughout the autumn 2005 across the East Midlands in association with numerous venue promoters and arts organisations. The highlight of the Nartan Festival was a three-day event in Leicester, offering a range of vibrant performances, a stimulating conference and a challenging choreography competition.
