‘Nritya Sangam’ was a cross cultural exploration combining South Asian Classical Kathak dance style and music with African Caribbean dance and music. Dancers and musicians represented the similarities and differences between two art forms in the context of technique and expressions using the theme of five elements (air, water, fire, earth & ether) to express abstract & rhythmic movement choreography performed by professional dancers & musicians from London & Midlands and choreographed by Nilima Devi (one of the leading Kathak exponents) and Caroline Muraldo (a well known Afro Caribbean dancer and teacher).
The performance was vibrant, energetic,
ambitious with fast and fluid movements
challenging the diverse audiences of UK.
